چکیده

In this paper we try to evaluate the effect of terfenadine, a selective H1-receptor antagonist on alcoholic beverage – induced bronchoconstriction. The size distribution proves that for each inflammatory action the hormone histamine is released in a large number and we conclude that the release of histamine makes a major contribution to alcoholic beverage – induced bronchoconstriction in asthmatic patients, and that histamine H1-antagonists may be effective in preventing alcoholic beverage – induced bronchoconstriction. Inhibitory effect of terfenadine, a selective H1 histamine antagonist, on alcoholic beverage-induced bronchoconstriction in asthmatic patients.

We wanted to evaluate the effect of terfenadine, a selective H1-receptor antagonist, on alcoholic beverage-induced bronchoconstriction. Eight patients with alcohol-induced asthma received terfenadine (60 mg, twice on the test day) or placebo, with the last dosing 2 h before the test in a double-blind, randomized, cross-over manner. On two separate study days, each subject drank the same brand a...

Inhibitory effect of a selective thromboxane synthetase inhibitor, OKY-046, on acetaldehyde-induced bronchoconstriction in asthmatic patients.

We recently reported that inhaled acetaldehyde causes bronchoconstriction indirectly via histamine release in patients with asthma. The purpose of this study was to investigate a role of thromboxane A2 in acetaldehyde-induced bronchoconstriction in asthmatic airways. We investigated the bronchial response to inhalation of ascending doses (5, 10, 20, and 40 mg/ml) of acetaldehyde in nine asthmat...

Airways responses to ipratropium bromide do not vary with time in asthmatic subjects. Studies of interindividual and intraindividual variation of bronchodilatation and protection against histamine-induced bronchoconstriction.

Bronchial histamine provocation tests were performed in nine patients with nonallergic asthma on four consecutive days 45 minutes after inhalation of placebo or ipratropium bromide in a dose-response manner (40 micrograms, 200 micrograms, and 800 micrograms). The drugs were administered double-blind, one dose on each day. This procedure was repeated identically after three to nine months to inv...

Reversing effect of anti-asthmatic drugs on bronchoconstriction induced by antigen challenge and histamine in anesthetized guinea pigs.

We performed an in vivo evaluation of bronchodilation using a model of antigen-induced bronchoconstriction in anesthetized guinea pigs pretreated with indomethacin, pyrilamine and propranolol, and the results were compared with those for the histamine-induced response. Test drugs were administered intravenously when the antigen or histamine response reached its peak. Leukotriene (LT) D4 antagon...

INCREASED HISTAMINE Hi RECEPTOR BLOCKADE BY CHLORPHENIRAMINE IN TRACHEAL CHAINS OF ASTHMATIC GUINEA PIGS

Receptor affinity and drug delivery to the receptor sites could be determinant factors for the increased bronchial responsiveness seen in asthma. Competitive antagonism blockade which is measured as dose ratio-l (DR-I) depends only on these two factors. Therefore, in this study we have examined histamine HI blockade by chlorpheniramine on isolated tracheal chains of asthmatic compared to co...
